A family from Hofstetten - a pretty little village that is the gateway to the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum - has had a strong influence on woodcarving in Brienz for decades. Whether as
modeler of individual figures, creator of the worldwide unique Brienz nativity scene figures "Christnacht", as inventor of the iconic Tilsiter cow or even as teachers for future wood sculptors;
the members of the Fuchs family are not only creative minds, but also innovative entrepreneurs and exciting personalities. Just "real champs".
Fritz Fuchs, the creator of the world-famous Brienz crib figures, not only leaves behind countless models and creations, but also an important part of the living
wood sculptor history of the Fuchs family. What has been passed down through generations in different companies, what parents, sons, brothers and cousins as well as nephews have created, has since
2021 united in one company: Fuchs Holzschnitzereien.
The company is still located in Hofstetten. Today, in the 5th generation, the family business continues to be shaped by wood sculptor Mario Fuchs. With great respect - he leads under
under the umbrella of Trauffer Switzerland and together with a team of almost 12 people - he continues the art of woodcarving as well as the success story of the Fuchs family.
