In 1938, Alfred and Rosa Trauffer founded Trauffer Wooden Toys AG in Hofstetten bei Brienz . The wooden cow with the red spots quickly became a best-seller, as a toy cow but also as a popular souvenir. The product range was continuously developed and expanded over three generations. From barns with farm animals and tractors to wild and forest animals and wooden figures, the sustainable selection is diverse and colourful.
A family from Hofstetten - a pretty little village that is the gateway to the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum - has had a strong influence on woodcarving in Brienz for decades. Whether as modeler of individual figures, creator of the worldwide unique Brienz nativity scene figures "Christnacht", as inventor of the iconic Tilsiter cow or even as teachers for future wood sculptors; the members of the Fuchs family are not only creative minds, but also innovative entrepreneurs and exciting personalities. Just "real champs".
Fritz Fuchs, the creator of the world-famous Brienz crib figures, not only leaves behind countless models and creations, but also an important part of the living wood sculptor history of the Fuchs family. What has been passed down through generations in different companies, what parents, sons, brothers and cousins as well as nephews have created, has since 2021 united in one company: Fuchs Holzschnitzereien.
The company is still located in Hofstetten. Today, in the 5th generation, the family business continues to be shaped by wood sculptor Mario Fuchs. With great respect - he leads under under the umbrella of Trauffer Switzerland and together with a team of almost 12 people - he continues the art of woodcarving as well as the success story of the Fuchs family.
Since 2017, the lovingly named "Kienereien" by inventor Kathrin Kiener have also been owned by Trauffer Switzerland. These articles from Trauffer Butterflies "Kiener" are also carefully revised and further developed on an ongoing basis. They have been given a slightly more modern look - but are still "all Kiener". In addition to the butterflies, there are wooden books, pacifier chains, music cubes, twin games and dice puzzles. This brand also fits perfectly into the Trauffer family: Kathrin Kiener wanted to create beautiful little things and Wooden Toys which bring joy to people. Sustainable, valuable, analogue and genuine.
Since 2019, the new brand Trauffer Design-Toys "Kynee" also carries these values forward without compromise. Like all the brands from Trauffer Switzerland, Kynee is pure Swiss - it stands for short transport routes, FSC-certified wood and natural colours. Nevertheless, every single product is stylish, enchanting and cool. The play of colours between white, black, grey and natural wood suits every in every children's room. Where do the ideas come from? From grandfather Alfred, who already made counting frames, marble tracks and trains - but these are a modern interpretation from his "granddaughter-in-law" Brigitte Trauffer.
It not only ticks like a Swiss watch, it looks like Switzerland too! Why? Because the Trauffer Switzerland brand has always stood for Swissness and folklore. Because it is authentic. And because such a watch is missing on the market - or better: has been missing.
Why a Holzchüehli producer and singer produces watches is quickly told. Marc A. Trauffer loves watches and could well have imagined becoming an ambassador for one of the numerous Swiss watch brands. So he asked himself which brand would suit him and found - none. Too sporty, too exclusive, too conservative, too elegant.
Marc A. Trauffer is an entrepreneur and doer. He stands exclusively for products that fit him 100 percent. In the case of watches, this means they must be modern, down-to-earth and folkloric at the same time. and folkloristic at the same time. Together with a producer from the Jura, he has now been able to develop precisely this watch. The result: 100 percent Trauffer. So today he wears not just any brand, but his own on his wrist. Once again, he remains authentic and stands uncompromisingly for Swissness - both qualitatively and visually.
