FAMILY HISTORY
Alfred Trauffer did it - he came up with the cow! A handmade souvenir cow, which helped the trained bear carver through a time of crisis. His small handicrafts made children's eyes light up; Alfred Trauffer had found his calling. He expanded his wooden animal farm and added trains and building blocks. With the foundation of "Holzspielwaren Trauffer-Michel" in 1938, he and his wife Rosa laid the foundation for the company whose wooden animals - especially the cows - are known worldwide today. A pioneer of his time who, without realising it, created millions of small, wooden monuments around the world.
Alfred's sons Franz and Kurt Trauffer took over the company in 1976. From the partly flat pull-along animals on wheels, the brothers developed the ones that every child knows and loves today. They gave them more edges and rounds without changing their character. Despite the new 3D shapes designed by Kurt's wife Ruth Trauffer and the product expansion to include farms, play figures and exotic animals, the old values have always been preserved: Craftsmanship tradition, uniqueness and the use of Swiss wood. To this day, every single figurine is cut by hand, sanded and then lovingly painted by one of 36 home workers. Each piece is unique.
Marc A. Trauffer has been working in the business since 2001 and in 2008 he took over the management as the third generation. Today he is known as "The guy with the cows". Under his leadership, the company has become a modern toy manufacturer that meets Swiss and European quality standards for toy safety and the increased and fast-moving market needs. With the takeover of the Pilgram and Kiener toy brands, he was able to expand the product range and became one of the largest Swiss Wooden Toys producers. The inventor's grandson has achieved what was was high time: to establish the name Trauffer as a brand. It stands for tradition and Swissness. For quality and sustainability. He remains true to the name, craftsmanship and philosophy of his ancestors. With the Trauffer World of Experiences, he and his wife Brigitte are setting the course for the future of his company in 2022.
Who knows what the future will look like? No one. Marc A. Trauffer also had all kinds of plans and ideas in his youth - except for joining the family business. His His parents left this decision completely open to him; perhaps that is why he is running the family business today? In the same way, his children Lars Yann and Lani Noelle should be free to choose their own path. choose their own path. At the moment, they are both in training and filling their rucksacks with life experiences...
